Port Canaveral

This is the month that is either very good fishing inside the port and along the beaches or potentially very poor. It will all depend on the quantity of baitfish that we have holding inside the Port’s basins or around the entrance of the Port. If menhaden pods are here, look for king mackerel, jack, bluefish, and a few other species to be feeding on them weather they are outside or inside the Port. Slow trolling or drifting around these pods with live menhaden is the best way to get a hookup. Ribbonfish slow trolled along the shipping channel can also work when there is a lot of bait around. Other species that can be found in the port this month are flounder and mangrove snapper. Both will hit live shrimp or small bait fish on a sliding sinker rig.
