Port Canaveral Fishing Forecast

port-canaveral

This is the month that we all start getting ready for cobia. Their annual spring migration usually begins around the beginning of the month, and every year these fish show up in decent numbers for at least a few days offshore of the Port Canaveral area. Live pogies, eels, pinfish and sardines are some of the best choices to cast to these fish, but don’t over look the effectiveness of a large live shrimp rigged on a VMC model 7265 short shank live bait hook. Large jigs are probably the most poplar lure to cast at the cobia and there are various models from HookUp, Handler Fishing supply, and Bite Me that will do the job just fine. Tripletail are another fish species that can be found just outside the port, mainly on floating debris, weeds, and buoys. Live shrimp or small baitfish rigged on a jig head and fished near these structures are one of the more popular ways to get hooked up to fish averaging 4 to 8 pounds.,
