Pana Vista Lodge Fishing Report Jan 2018

The last month or so has been a good bass month. The water level has stabilized and we have had some pretty good rain events lately and it is really holding well. FWC fisheries has been out some lately doing their routine surveys and they said the water conditions are outstanding.

Billy Searcey has been catching limit catches of bass flipping plastics in the heavy vegetation. He releases most of his fish but said some days it would be hard to keep a limit because the fish are “Too Big”. I guess that wouldn”t be a bad problem to have. The specs have been a little slow but that is not unusual on Lake Panasoffkee when the water is higher than normal. Janurary should be a good month. I expect the specs to pick up too. I would drift minnows in the deeper part of the lake but Jiffy Jigs will probably work well too.The bass will continue and the larger fish will start hitting live bait as well. With the water being up don’t ignore the river. Fishing live bait around Princess lake may be a good spot and also fish around the downside of the dam for specs.
