Tick-tock, tick-tock, the wahoo are coming! By the time you read this I should have a wahoo in the boat. Yep, the wahoo are coming. Bait pods are building and the water temperature is dropping, but not fast enough for me and the local anglers. Truthfully, it has been very hot for the last couple of months and the fishing has been tough and we are all looking forward to cooler temperatures and the great fishing they bring. With the wind beginning to change to out of the northeast it won’t be long now.

Always keep in mind some of these easy tactics for wahoo success. Dark colors under the surface just behind the wash of the props. I have tried some off-brand deep swimming lures for wahoo but nothing works better than the Braided Marauder in black/purple with red eyes, any colors will do. Islanders in dark colors with ballyhoo on the fast troll close to the boat. Main tip is to up your trolling speed. Just writing this gets me excited about the coming wahoo season! Until next month…
