We have still been catching quality fish! Our focus has been on the backwaters and if you know where to look you can have some stellar days on the water! We have been catching beautiful over-slot redfish, big snook, bruiser jacks and a variety of other species! Just to reiterate, snook and reds are closed for the foreseeable future, so make sure you are practicing catch and release. However, for true sportsman, having to let your catch go doesn’t really hamper your day. As far as bait is concerned, pinfish and whitebait are starting to show back up. Offshore is still struggling but rebounding. Schools of mackerel and bonitos are showing up and as long as the red tide continues to die off we should see a drastic improvement in the offshore fishing! Don’t let the doom and gloom of the news scare you away, if you’re desiring to get out there and fish…the bite is good!
