White Rat has won the inaugural Cape Eleuthera Wahoo Tournament, narrowly beating the second place finisher, Rake N Scrape, by just 7.5 pounds. Based out of Nassau and comprised of Scott Kelly, Travis Kelly, Rosevalt Rahming, Mark Kooskalis and Curtis Diaz, Team White Rat’s five largest wahoo totaled 262.6 pounds. The team’s score was aided by an  81.5 pound wahoo, the heaviest caught during the tournament, weighed on day two of the three day event hosted by the Cape Eleuthera Resort & Yacht Club.

For the win, White Rat received a specially designed Randy Rich trophy.  Team White Rat’s Scott Kelly was also presented a certificate good for $1,000 in Shell oil products. Sun Oil Bahamas regional manager, Arthur Ternquest, presented the certificate .

Nassau-based Team Rake N Scrape, comprised of  Jeff Waugh, Robert Darville, Brian Waugh and Trevor Fox, weighed a 71.5 pound wahoo on day one and a 68.8 pounder on day two, finishing with 255.1 pounds to place second.

Ramblin Man, comprised of Neil McKinney, Nick Winters and David Fingland,  took the third place slot. Team Ramblin Man, which also hailed from Nassau, was hampered by a temperamental depth sounder but according to tournament organizers the malfunction did not diminish the team’s enthusiasm, nor did the two 45 pounders on day one.

Tournament sponsors included Sands Beer, Bacardi and Bristol Wine & Spirits.

Dates for the second annual Cape Eleuthera Wahoo Tournament are January 16 – 19, 2013. For more information regarding the tournament or Cape Eleuthera Resort & Yacht Club, visit www.capeeleuthera.com or email: info@capeeleuthera.com.
