[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ow that the holidays are over, we all can get back to normal. During the cold, gray days of the winter months, I spend time doing maintenance on my rod and reels and boats. I take advantage of the bright, sunny calm days to fish! I fish the navigational markers in the bay for redfish. White trout will be mixed in with the catch. Use live shrimp and drop straight down. Flounder and sheepshead can be caught around structure and in the outlet of the bay, and flounder can’t resist bull minnows, so they are your best bet if you can get them. The Specks have moved into the ICW canal. I use ¼ ounce jig heads with 2” Gulp finger mullet. I free line bull minnows near walls and structure too. So get out there and remember the fishing can be very good in January with less fishing pressure.
