Lake Seminole always has an awesome spring fishing season. Currently there is a major push towards beds, and this will continue with the warmer weather. This spring, we’ve seen numerous bags of 30+ pounds in the tournaments out of Wingate’s Lunker Lodge. The fish are mainly in 2 to 8 feet of water using sand, stumps and Hydrilla for cover. The lake and Spring Creek are stained but clearing up. Both the lake and the creek will continue to clear if the rain is moderate. But if we continue to get any heavy rains, water clarity and sight fishing could be affected somewhat. The top three baits that I’ve been using are: X-Caliber rattle bait in Royal Red, a Smithwick Perfect 10 Rogue in Juice and a Yum F-2 Dinger in Green Pumpkin.
This picture is of me and Zander Wilson with his nice 7 1/2 pounder that he caught. Zander is eight years old and lives in Winder, GA, just north of Atlanta.
Have a great month and for guide service at Lake Seminole or surrounding areas, give me a call. Happy angling!!
