Inshore cobia caught near dog island reef with a free lined pin fish on 20lb test and a Shimano 4000.

This is Capt. Brittany with SaltyNative Charters pulling in an August fishing forecast for Alligator Point, FL! This year’s weather has been cooler and more rainy than expected. But the Cobia and King mackerel have still got their bite on. Live Pin fish free lined near structure inshore or offshore are a big hit for the Cobia. Also, live Pin fish near live bottom are pulling in smoker Kings. Gag grouper are open in federal waters and are still not too deep! Decent Grouper have been caught in 50-60ft of water, though the big boys take running to deeper water this time of year. Already, huge Black Sea bass are hungry in shallow offshore waters! Bay scalloping is open and a ball of fun for the whole family to snorkel after them. I’ve found that there are plenty of nice sized scallops to pick up this year! Inshore fishing is hot right now with gator trout, huge Spanish mackerel and Cobia near structure! Red drum should be showing up more and more as August nears to an end.
