Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Forecast: August 2013

Those of you staying home because of the hype about the brown algae bloom are doing yourselves a great disservice. Yes, we are experiencing a bloom and yes, some areas are dirtier than we would like. Yes, we are still catching fish. Jul 26th, 2013

Florida Surf Fishing Forecast: August 2013

July was a blistering hot month for me and I tried to fish only the early (6-10am) mornings. I would say we had expectable fishing from all reports. Sharks, bull whiting, sheepshead and croakers were in the surf. Mornings broke on calm seas, blue water, light winds and humidity in the high double digits. All in all, just what you would expect on our Brevard County Beaches at this time of the year.Jul 26th, 2013

Canaveral Offshore Fishing Forecast: August 2013

After July’s inconsistent fishing, I’m not sure exactly what to say. The thermal cline seemed to come and go daily. We saw 8/9-degree daily temperature changes along with a mix of both clean and funky colored water. It made it a tough month. Jul 26th, 2013

First week of July

Fishing has not been that great off the Cape. The thermal cline has set in and the temps from day to day have been drastic. From 68 one day to 76 the very next day. Bait has been hard to locate as well.Jul 7th, 2013

Shrimp Report: July 2013

You did not hear it from me but the brown winter shrimp are large and in charge in South Brevard County. This is the time of year where walking the planks (standing on piers & bridges) is trending in the Melbourne area. The popular Eau Gallie Bridge (US 192), Mather's Bridge, Pineda Causeway and the Bennet Causeway (SR 528 ) are producing some ginormous shrimp in June. Let me caution you, many bridge shrimpers quit early in the night out of frustration just to find out the gates opened up at o' crack tweet producing a full pull of mammoth size shrimp. A bridge full pull is a very rare accomplishment. When do you go to the bridges?Jul 2nd, 2013
