America’s Favorite City Charleston SC

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]harleston, South Carolina continuously makes the news as one of the nation’s favorites in everything from great food, amazing architecture, vaca- tion destination and quality of life; so it comes as no surprise that the Holy City is also the perfect spot for a brand new in-water boat show.

While the Charleston Area Convention Center continues to be home to the successful Charleston Boat Show every January, the Tri-County Marine Trade Association will expand its on-land show to an in-water event for the first time.

This show will be the largest in-water boat show between Annapolis and Jacksonville and will be located in one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the country. “With the uptick in boat sales over the past year, the timing was right to bring this annual show to the coolest city in America,” says Jacqui Bomar, president of long-time boat show management company, JBM & Associates.

The region’s leading dealers and manufacturers will be on-site to showcase a wide variety of boat brands at sale prices. The Bristol Marina and Brittlebank Park are perfect venues for this regional event. “It is rare to find a city like Charleston with an ideal boat show venue. This particular location enables us to have larger boats on display from all over the Southeast,” Bomar explains.

The Bristol Marina will host boats in the water from 17 to 77 feet, while adjacent Brittlebank Park, located near Joe Riley Stadium, will feature additional boat displays as well as vendors selling marine-related accessories and services. There will also be family fun, on-going fishing seminars and other activities throughout the weekend.

From April 25-27, water enthusiasts, be they yachters, sailors, or paddle boaters, can enjoy displays both on the water as well as on land at the Bristol Marina and Brittlebank Park. Among other big draws, major boat dealers will show their shiniest models on and off the water while offering big discounts to potential buyers.

“There will even be a demo dock so potential buyers can test ride the boat of their dreams,” says Bomar. Experts will also be on hand so visitors can learn all about the latest trends in boating and fishing. Whether you can afford a new yacht or not, there’s something for every budget.”

Designed to deliver all-things marine, the show will feature not only yachts, but also kayaks, Jon boats and paddleboards. “Anything and everything you can do on the water,” Bomar says. “With food vendors, activities for families, and opportunities to learn new things, the show promises to be a real festival atmosphere. Even if you don’t own a boat, living in a place surrounded by water still gives you the chance to be a part of the boating lifestyle.”

With over 30 years of bass fishing experience, Texas Roadhouse pro, Mike DelVisco, a fulltime professional angler will hold classes Saturday at the show on the following topics:

Cranking up springtime bass – Learn all you need to be productive in using and selecting crankbaits leading into spring. Mike makes the process simple, discussing everything from location to technique to make you a better crank- bait angler.

A little finesse – Over the last several years, many pros have found the power of finesse tactics. Drop shot, shaky head and other light-line techniques are explained to make you a more well rounded angler.

The Charleston In-Water Boat Show will attract people who are passionate about living life on the water. With more than 50 different boat brands on sale at boat show prices, endless entertainment and education, this event promises to make it on the calendar as a must-attend annual event.

Some of the features include: wooden boat building demos, the Army Bass Anglers Coalition Kids Fishing Tank, a flying Russian Boat called the Tupolev N007, pirate performances, the SC Department of Natural Resources Touch Tank, face painting, and a schedule of fishing clinics.

There will be several firsts at the show as well including the first appearance of a Prestige Yacht in the Carolinas or Georgia. The first hybrid boat, called the Greenline 40 Hybrid, will also be on hand at the event. People will discover many new products and services to help make their boating experience better.

The Charleston In-Water Boat Show is presented by the All NEW Chevy Silverado, sponsored by Allstate Insurance and Maritime Insurance. It is being hosted by the Tri-County Marine Trade Association and produced by JBM & Associates, producers of the January Charleston Boat Show and the Savannah Boat Show.
