A Day that was Something Special
For those of you that remember the movie Jaws, there is a scene where Quint is on deck in the fighting chair when he hears that familiar click of the reel. It’s More Than the Catch
As recreational anglers, we have all probably heard (and read) about it a million times. Search the internet and you are likely to find thousands of articles documenting “best practices” for releasing fish.Casting Prep for Fly Fishing Adventures
Typical casting requirements on a stream or pond can be pretty easy. Distance is not much of a factor. Often you can wade closer or maneuver the boat. Stream fish typically hold in lies and you can repeatedly work your fly to them.Remember Who Showed You the Ropes in Fishing?
Do you remember who showed you how to fish? A parent, grandparent, family friend, or sibling? A work friend dramatically improved my fishing knowledge.Wade Fishing – Knowledge That Could Save Your Life
Seeing a five foot bull shark less than fifty feet away is definitely something that will raise the hair on the back of your neck, and put a little fear in you. Some quit wade fishing altogether.“No Dead Bait” Fishing with Captain Mike
I’m Ron and I’m all about fishing. I try to fish with a different charter boat every week or two. On February 8th, fifty-seven young anglers set sail on 21 boats in the waters of Islamorada for the Second Annual Keys Kids Sailfish Tournament. This free, one-day event featured youth in two divisions: small-fry (ages 0-10) and junior (ages 11-16).Upstate New York Bass on the Fly!
For an angler, being outside and fishing in a short sleeve shirt with no one around should be enough to call any day a success. This day was about to get better. As we cast into a river with increasing water temps and a majority of the steelhead already back in Lake Ontario, our expectations of a tight line were low. Soon enough, as we launched large flies into the water, the addicting tight line grabs began. These fierce strikes were not steelhead, but hungry smallmouth bass. We enjoyed a full day on the river swinging 4-plus-inch flies and catching more than 25 smallmouth bass apiece.Under The Sea – Slings and Polearms
