Southern Musky Fever Relief
A couple of years ago, there was an undercurrent of musky fever, and then musky fever on the fly climbed to an all-time high. We read articles while tuning into the almost constant internet chatter. Everyone was talking about chasing musky for many days before even seeing one. We watched videos of anglers catching long, toothy fish, hoisting them over their heads in victory, showing shotgun poses along with new camera angles to help bring musky fever to its highest possible temperature. Musky was the fish of 1,000 or 10,000 casts—I really cannot remember.Apr 4th, 2013Fishing the Estuaries
One of my favorite places to fish is in the estuaries, also known as the mangroves. There you can troll, bait cast or use a spinning rod and reel. For me it is the fly rod. The estuaries are the nurseries of the sea. Very high percentages of fish hatch there and spend a good part of their life there. Some never leave. This makes fishing good there all year round. The mangroves of the Mexican Pacific coast have about 800 square miles of this vegetation.Apr 4th, 2013On Golden Pond: Squam Lake New Hampshire
Squam Lake is smack dab in the middle of New Hampshire just a few miles Northwest of Lake Winnipesaukee. Other species include: cusk, horned pout, (bullheads) and landlocked salmon.Mar 25th, 2013A Smart Choice-Bucktails

While you’re wrestling with your decision, you might find it helpful to know that in the early days of World War II, the U.S. Government answered the question for you. Survival kits in life rafts aboard warplanes and ships contained a package of fishing line and leadheaded bucktails.Mar 25th, 2013Say Cheese: Taking Quality Photos from Your Kayak

Fly anglers are as attracted to their flies as fish are, and in some cases, can be even more attracted to them than the fish. There are a wide variety of flies available for anglers, and selecting from the array can be complicated. There are different colors, sizes, and materials. There are weighted flies and unweighted flies. So, what are the best flies? The simple answer is: it depends.Spring Striped Bass Run the Hudson River
