Benefiting the MUSC Children’s Hospital Fund and the Coastal Conservation Association of SC
This year will commemorate the Fishing for Miracles 20th anniversary. Fishing for Miracles (FFM) is a local, nonprofit, volunteer based fishing tournament, whose proceeds benefit the MUSC Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina (CCA). CCA promotes conservation to enhance the present and future availability of marine resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public. MUSC Children’s Hospital PICU provides critical care for children in the low-country. From inception in 1994, FFM has donated over $600,000 shared between these worthy beneficiaries.
On December 17, 2012, FFM presented the 2012 contribution to MUSC Children’s Hospital and CCA in the amount of $27,000. The 2012 contribution is primarily made up of sponsor financial support, which is allocated 100% to the beneficiaries. Funds will be used by CCA to promote the future conservation of our marine resources and by MUSC Children’s Hospital PICU toward the purchase of a Telemedicine cart. The Telemedicine cart uses state of the art cameras and stethoscopes, which allows pediatric specialists to remotely examine patients in emergency situations. This technology will enhance communication and minimize treatment delay.
