B revard’s beachside Walmart is hosting an Indian River Lagoon Awareness Day event May 24, 2014, from 10 am until noon. In support and celebration of the Indian River Lagoon, this fishing and environmental community event will help raise money for the Marine Resources Council (MRC), a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to protecting and restoring the Indian River Lagoon for the past 30 years.
There will be free raffles, displays and educational presentations covering a wide range of topics, including proper fertilizing demonstrations, a rain barrel workshop, and eco-friendly advice for concerned families.
There will also be a carwash hosted by Beachside Wal-Mart to raise donations for the MRC.
Members of the Anglers for Conservation will offer casting games for kids and adults. They will also have demonstrations on surf and river fishing techniques, cast netting, and proper catch and release tactics. catch and release tactics.
Along with food, drink and music there will also be various eco-friendly lawn and garden, automotive and marine products discussed and displayed.
