Merry Christmas!! Specs are on! . . This is the time of year to do it!! Prime Spec season has begun and will run through the end of March. We’re getting many reports of Specs in the 1 lb (and larger) range being caught in our area. Top producing lakes at this time seem to be Lakes Haines and Rochelle in Lake Alfred. The Specs are responding best to Live Minnows but are also hitting on small silver spoons or anything with a flash to it. Mix it up . . Try different colors. Remember . . As the weather continues to get colder, Specs are getting closer to the shore line. Try fishing from some of the docks and piers available at many of our area lakes.
Bass are starting to stage. We recommend Bass fishing by casting along the shore line (not towards the bank). You have a better chance of larger size and quantity as they are going in and out of the bank. My top recommendation and “Bait of Choice” is still the Booyah Lipless Crank Bait in Royalty Color. It’s a consistent producer for snagging those Big Bass. Your best Bass fishing locations currently are the North and South Winter Haven Chain of Lakes.
