Lake Murray is at 358.
Bream: Good to very good. Lake World (803-957-6548) reports that shellcracker can still be caught in 6-10 feet of water. To locate shellcracker look for freshwater clams washed up on the shore and fish nearby with night crawler sections. The bream bite remains hot, and fishing is very strong around docks with crickets. Peak spawning activity should occur on the new and full moons, and fish can also be found on the beds in between.
Striped Bass: Good. Lake World reports that striper are moving into a typical summer pattern where fish are grouping up in the big water on the lower end of the lake. Fish are being caught 30-80 feet deep over humps and depth changes, with most fish being caught on down lined live herring. Fish can also be caught trolling plugs.
Captain Brad Taylor (803-331-1354) reports that he is doing most of his fishing in 50-60 feet of water in creeks on the lower end of the lake. Brad is down lining herring in these areas and fishing right on the bottom. Fish do not seem to be related to any particular structure and so Brad is using his electronics to locate fish and not dropping any lines down until he finds them.
Catfish: Good. Captain Chris Simpson (864-992-2352) reports that the channel cat bite remains consistent. Anchoring on main lake humps and points and fishing in 10 to 20 feet has been the most productive pattern for Captain Chris. Herring, shrimp and stinkbait are working well. If you don’t get bit in 30 minutes then move to the next spot.
Crappie: Fair. Captain Brad Taylor reports that crappie can be found around main lake brush on the upper end of the lake. Fish minnows 10-12 feet down over brush in about 20 feet of water. Stick to the main body of water and don’t head up the creeks.
Largemouth Bass: No new report.
