Lake Seminole has been muddy, but is now starting to clear. Fortunately, the bass are still biting and are being taken on Rattle Baits like Strike King Red Eye Shad in Chili Craw. Tournament season is starting up and it’s been taking 20 to 30 pounds of fish to win. We have a couple of weeks left of watching out for duck hunters while fishing on the lake, but once they’re gone and it starts to warm up, the bass will be moving to their beds. While bed fishing, I’ve had success with a Strike King Rage Crawl in Green Pumpkin rigged with a 3/16 oz. Strike King Tour Grade Tungsten weight.
Crappie are being caught with minnows and jigs on ledges about 8 to 10 feet deep. They really seem to like the cold weather and we are seeing limits cross the docks at Wingate’s Lunker Lodge.
Stripers are being taken on the lake with the Strike King Tour Grade Titanium Umbrella Rigs. Once you get used to throwing those heavy things, it’s a blast catching those huge fish on them.
The photo shows some of my winning catch in the Hydrilla Gnat’s Club Tournament out of Wingate’s Lodge on Sunday, January 19th.
