Mosquito Lagoon charter report for early November

Clients have been enjoying the active bite in the ‘goon even though the wind has been a bit blustery. Top-water plugs and Exude soft plastics have been effective as we set up near massive schools of mullet on the shallows.

Right now the water is dingy and visibility is fair, but far from great. We’re spooking lots of redfish relating to shallow sand holes as we approach. Often, we don’t see them until we’re within a boat length or two…

Anglers with the ability to make the “long cast” are doing quite well as we work our way along the schooling mullet. Non-casters are still in the game by soaking cut mullet in “fishy” areas.

Remember your patience when fishing bait on the bottom and realize that a catfish or two or ten will be part of the equation!

Also, fishing live shrimp under a popping float in 3 foot of water is yielding fine catches of schoolie trout. A great option for those who enjoy lots-o-action and especially for the kids!
