As predicted, the wahoo fishing has been fantastic despite the rough conditions from time to time. When given the chance to venture out between the passing cold fronts, the fishing has been great right out front on the ledge. The north winds have been pushing the fish up against the wall (drop off) which has been giving us a great success rate. Black, red, purple or any dark colored lures with ballyhoo rigged combination has been good with hooking up these speedsters. Don’t forget to crank up your trolling speed when targeting wahoo. We have been averaging fish around 20 to 70 pounds in good numbers for Nassau waters. The largest reported so far was a 97 pounder. So, as we get into the peak of the season during the month of January, with the bite being so good, we expect even larger fish around here. A shot or two at a sailfish is not out of the question during the winter as well. There should also be some smaller mahi-mahi with an occasional 20 pounder in the mix along with a few tuna. Keep your eyes on the weather and plan your trip accordingly. So, tight lines everybody, hope to see you in Nassau soon.
