The fishing from Pensacola, FL to Orange Beach, AL has been impeccable. Thick schools of speckled trout have been mixed with plenty of redfish. They’ve been located on the grass beds and around structure in 3-5 feet of water. Using a Matrix soft plastic with a ¼ oz. jig head together with 20-pound fluorocarbon leader works fantastic. With the temperatures beginning to cool and many of the heavy crowds of tourists headed back home, now is a great time to get on the water. With the closing of many offshore reef species, it’s also a great time to fish the inshore. If you don’t own a boat or to become a better angler, try taking a charter out for the day.
