Publisher’s Note: August 2015

editors

As the fishing moves East and really rocks and rolls, we want to take a minute to thank you, our readers, for making Coastal Angler Magazine so highly sought after on Long Island in such a short time! We are fielding dozens of calls for locations to be added to the distribution list. We have a small but growing group of advertisers that tell us we are their most effective print buy in terms of generating leads and business – what more can you ask for? Even our writers are praising each other! Chief Long Island writer extraordinaire Tom Schlichter gave Zach Harvey’s July article the thumbs up. When that happens you know you are on to something!

So we are really excited to bring you this August edition in the heat of the summer when the fish are (finally!) here in big numbers and everyone is dropping a line whether into the fresh (see Tom’s article in this issue) or the salt, by land or by sea, for the table or to win the big tournament prizes.

Special shout out to friends and family on Shelter Island and the East end! We’ll be dropping a line in Peconic Bay soon!

Black Bass, Fluke, Scup, Tuna, and of course, stripers are on fire. As we mentioned in July, Coastal Angler Magazines in the Northeast are proud to be the official media partners of the Fourth Annual Pabst Blue Ribbon Striped Bass-Bluefish- Fluke Tournament being held in Long Island, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut! Check out their ad in this issue and be sure to go to their website or ours to sign up. With big purses and a great charitable partner- Lions Clubs’ Visually Impaired Fishing Tournaments – you can’t miss this one. The tournament runs through October 15 so there is plenty of time to land that prize winning fish. Register today at www.pbrfishing.com and get your free swag.

Aug 6-9 brings the 58th Annual Babylon Tuna Club Invitational Tournament and the 76th Year of the Babylon Tuna Club. The Invitational Tournament is the oldest fishing tournament on Long Island and the only tournament featuring both day and overnight categories! DAY AND INSHORE BOATS ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE! LOW ENTRY FEE…HIGH MONEY PRIZES!!! This year funds will be raised for Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, a non-profit, no kill animal shelter dedicated to placing pets into loving homes since 1927.
