Spearfishing Forecast – April 2019

Span 12.
Span 12.

Most of the migratory fish (cobia, kings, Spanish Mackerel and bonita) have all shown up this year. The water temps are in the mid to upper 60s on the surface and low 60s at depth at this time, but should be coming up into the 70s shortly. Visibility should still be a good 30’- to 50’, depending on the weather and winds. Also, with the temps move up the AJs, snappers, and other game fish should be moving around more making them easier to find and more fun to shoot. Remember with warmer water fish tend to move quicker, so you may have to adjust your aim for these fish. Watch the FWC’s website myfwc.com for the ever-changing rules.

Don’t forget to review your safety procedures as we start this season of fun in the sun and as always, plan your dive and dive your plan!
