Backcountry Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Happy New Year 2014 to everyone! My favorite holiday of the year because it means we get to do it all over again. Winter time: schooling redfish on the flats, trout, black drum, sheepshead, and bluefish. Spring: inshore and offshore migrating game fish will return from south Florida.
Mosquito Lagoon/Ponce Inlet Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Happy New Year! December had good fishing with some great “tailing” redfish action. Also the bigger trout were hitting the weedless jerk baits. In January, if the cold fronts roar through on a regular basis, the water will be super clear on the flats and in the backcountry.
Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report: Jan 2014
The New Year will hopefully bring some calmer conditions to take advantage of the great fishing missed during a bumpy December. The late cold fronts last year have allowed the sailfish and dolphin to remain in our area longer than expected.
Edgewater & Backcountry Fishing Report: Dec 2013
How fast another year went by, it is already December, the late fall transition is ending and winter patterns begin.
Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report: Dec 2013
Happy Holidays everyone! Fishing in November was great and December is going to get better as the redfish school up. December 21st is the official start of winter and the shortest day of the year, Winter Solstice.
Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report: Dec 2013
December fishing should be exciting with the late fall fronts that could hold exceptional fishing through the month. Near shore and intermediate reefs all the way to the blue water will give anglers a fun alternative to holiday shopping.
Central St. Johns River Fishing Report: Nov 2013
November brings cooler weather to our area of the central St. Johns River and surrounding lakes and this makes fishing better. It’s a great time to be on the water for speck fishing.
Edgewater & Back Country Fishing Report: Nov 2013
The chilly weather that normally comes in November will bring changes to fishing in the Edgewater Backcountry. This is usually the last month to catch our subtropical inshore migrating game fish including jack crevalle, tarpon, and ladyfish, which will be heading south to spend the winter in southern Florida as the water temperature drops in our area.
Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report: Nov 2013
October offshore fishing should trigger an incredible fishery during November. The bait is showing in numbers and it is a matter of time until the migratory species catch up and allow anglers the incredible fall action Ponce Inlet is known for. Near shore reefs from 75-95’ will hold numerous kingfish, along with cobia, bonita , dolphin and sailfish.
Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report: Nov 2013
October proved to be another great month of fishing with both reds and trout caught on artificials, live bait and fly. Pinfish, live shrimp, finger mullet and chunked mullet will be the “go to” natural baits.Read the Current Issue
