Pack your holiday decorations away and give away all the leftovers. You will need some freezer space for the 2014 shrimp season. We have had some shrimp movement since November and we have had reports of 2 full buckets in North Brevard over Nov-December.
Backcountry Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Happy New Year 2014 to everyone! My favorite holiday of the year because it means we get to do it all over again. Winter time: schooling redfish on the flats, trout, black drum, sheepshead, and bluefish. Spring: inshore and offshore migrating game fish will return from south Florida.

Happy New Year! December had good fishing with some great “tailing” redfish action. Also the bigger trout were hitting the weedless jerk baits. In January, if the cold fronts roar through on a regular basis, the water will be super clear on the flats and in the backcountry.

The New Year will hopefully bring some calmer conditions to take advantage of the great fishing missed during a bumpy December. The late cold fronts last year have allowed the sailfish and dolphin to remain in our area longer than expected.
