A Tavernier, Fla. man was recently sentenced to buy The Bahamas a $200,000-plus newly constructed 30’ Contender Tournament after pleading guilty in a plea deal for fishing violations.

Senators Propose Forage Fish Protections

In late April, two U.S. senators introduced a bill to increase protections for small fish that serve as the food base in aquatic ecosystems. This bill would amend the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to require the role forage fish play in the marine ecosystem be accounted for when federal fisheries managers set catch limits on these small but important fish.
