Edgewater & Back Country Fishing Report: Feb 2014
One more full month of winter fishing in the Edgewater Backcountry, sheepshead are one of the most sought after cold season targets, this inshore member of the porgy family eats crustaceans exclusively, best baits are fiddler crabs, but small live shrimp, peeled frozen shrimp, small pieces of clam, oyster or crab are a good second choice.
Mosquito Lagoon/Ponce Inlet Fishing Report: Feb 2014
January had some good redfishing and the cold fronts should improve the redfishing through February. Constant fronts will keep the water clear, cold and shallow in the Mosquito Lagoon.
Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report: Feb 2014
The blustery winter experienced this season have not allowed many to take advantage of the good fishing offshore. February may be the shortest month of the year but anglers need to take advantage of the breaks in-between fronts whenever possible.
Shrimp Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Pack your holiday decorations away and give away all the leftovers. You will need some freezer space for the 2014 shrimp season. We have had some shrimp movement since November and we have had reports of 2 full buckets in North Brevard over Nov-December.
Backcountry Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Happy New Year 2014 to everyone! My favorite holiday of the year because it means we get to do it all over again. Winter time: schooling redfish on the flats, trout, black drum, sheepshead, and bluefish. Spring: inshore and offshore migrating game fish will return from south Florida.
Mosquito Lagoon/Ponce Inlet Fishing Report: Jan 2014
Happy New Year! December had good fishing with some great “tailing” redfish action. Also the bigger trout were hitting the weedless jerk baits. In January, if the cold fronts roar through on a regular basis, the water will be super clear on the flats and in the backcountry.
Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report: Jan 2014
The New Year will hopefully bring some calmer conditions to take advantage of the great fishing missed during a bumpy December. The late cold fronts last year have allowed the sailfish and dolphin to remain in our area longer than expected.
Volusia Shrimp Fishing Report: Dec 2013
We are in December now and I would be lying to you if I did not admit there is some shrimp activity in the Oak Hill area. But, not enough to call in sick and sign up for a honey do list in exchange for a night out on the water.Advertise in the Volusia County Edition LEARN MORE
