Everyone loves our own Pabst Blue Ribbon Fishing Tournament! Along with the excitement generated by the big bucks prizes we love the great family photos of multiple generations, kids, girls, dudes and babes that participate. While we will miss the photos from the bait and tackles that come with landing the fish, we are proud to support PBR Fishing as they move to 100% catch and release.
Today tourney organizers announced that the 5th annual Northeast Fishing Tournament will be an entirely catch and release event. This follows hundreds of tournaments nationwide as organizers work to keep the excitement and competitive nature of their tournaments strong, while also sustainable and in keeping with evolving mores on living in balance with the ocean’s resources.
Rob Reilly of Pabst Blue Ribbon said; “Sustainability has always been one of the major goals of the PBR Northeast Fishing Tournament and for 2016 we really wanted to take it to the next level. The Pabst Brewing Company is excited to announce the change in format to a 100% catch and release tournament! This change makes the PBR Northeast Fishing Tournament one of the largest catch and release tournaments in America and we are beyond thrilled to kick off our fifth year in the waters of the Northeast. The 2016 Tournament will focus on the core of summer fishing starting on Sunday, June 12 and run through Saturday, August 20, 2016. Registered anglers will compete in three divisions: Striped Bass, Bluefish and Fluke. Participants are eligible to catch their fish in the salt waters of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Long Island.
To be eligible for the season ending cash prize, a minimum of three fish must be caught, released, and submitted to the tournament office. The combined length of the longest three fish submitted will make up the angler’s total entry. At the end of the tournament, an overall grand prize of $5,000 will be awarded in each of the three divisions along with a second place prize of $1,500 and a third place prize of $500. There is also a chance to win a weekly prize of $300, awarded to the angler with the longest fish submitted that week. Junior division winners are not eligible for cash prizes, but will be awarded a rod/reel combo or a gift certificate to a tackle shop in each of the divisions.

All participants receive a limited edition PBR ruler to use for submissions, a t-shirt, hat, koozie and keychain – and the really lucky ones will get a Coastal Angler Magazine in their gift bag!
