Breaking News: NOAA Proposes Fishing Closure for 55 Species Off Florida Coast

NOAA Fisheries has unveiled Amendment 59 to the South Atlantic Snapper-Grouper Fishery Management Plan. This amendment aims to ban bottomfishing for 55 species, including red snapper, along significant portions of the Florida Atlantic coast. The proposed Secretarial Amendment has been developed by NOAA Fisheries as part of a legal agreement mandating actions to halt the overfishing of red snapper in the South Atlantic.Jan 15th, 2025

De Sulocki’s Record-Breaking Trahira

Brazil's Xingu River, famous for its aggressive fish, witnessed a historic moment on July 15, 2024. Ian-Arthur De Sulocki, IGFA Representative and Ambassador, hooked a 77-centimeter trahira while working a streamer fly. The fish tore through the water before Ian skillfully brought it in, smashing the IGFA All-Tackle Length Fly World Record for the species. After a quick measure on his IGFA Measuring Device, Ian released the record-breaking fish back into its jungle waters home.Jan 15th, 2025

Thomas Sebestyen set the Men’s 10-kg (20 lb) Line Class World Records with this incredible 25.49-kilogram (56-pound, 3-ounce) permit caught in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1997. 🎣 Casting a small yellow jig tipped with a shrimp, Sebestyen hooked into the fish of a lifetime.
