The dog days of summer are behind us, and we’re already experiencing a few cooler days with lower humidity. This makes my mind start to wander in one direction, and that is 20 feet up a tree in a lock-on waiting on a deer to come within bow range. Editorial StaffSep 6th, 2014
At four in the morning it’s nearly always quiet. Waves move boats slightly up then down, and wet ropes make low popping sounds. The warm salt air carries the smells of the day, fuel and fish. We load the boat under the harbor lights; live bait, frozen bait, coolers full of drinks and food for a long day. Smiles are everywhere, this day is all about fishing for red snappers and cobia. For readers new to fishing the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, I can sum up our lifestyle real easy, “This is as good as it gets.”Editorial StaffSep 5th, 2014

Founded in 2007, Heroes on the Water gives back to those who paid it forward by engaging our returning warriors in kayak fishing across the nation in both fresh and saltwater.Editorial StaffSep 3rd, 2014
One of the key advantages of spearfishing is its selectivity, as it allows fishers to target specific species without by-catch, making it an environmentally friendly option. However, it requires skill, precision, and knowledge of the underwater environment to be successful
Want a better shot at catching those summer trout in shallow water? Once summer is in full swing, I always find myself chasing trout that are ambushing prey from grass beds in shallow water. One problem I struggle with is finding the right bait for when that topwater bite turns off.
Typically coming in under 30 pounds, it is easy to transport, it’s quiet and super stealthy, and with a standing view it makes for a fantastic platform.
Recently, I was enjoying a quiet morning on the boat, all by myself, catching several fish in a remote place on the lower end of the Apalachicola River.
