Bucket List: Bow River Bullets

Without a doubt, Alberta, Canada’s Bow River is a world-class trout fishery. Glacier-fed and flowing more than 350 miles from the Canadian Rockies through the foothills and prairies of Alberta, it is big and scenic by the time it reaches the 50-mile section southeast of Calgary that author Jim McLennan called “the Blue Ribbon Bow.” It is here in this blue ribbon stretch that anglers flock to get in on some of the best brown and rainbow trout fishing in the world.May 9th, 2025

Fall Bottom Fishing off the North Carolina Coast

We put the boat in the water before the sun came up. The big orange was coming across the water to our left as we went through the inlet headed to points unknown to me. Our captain, Tim Barefoot plugged in some numbers on his GPS and we began our journey. Dec 3rd, 2013

Fishing for Sheepshead in South Carolina

There is something appealing about sheepshead. They are abundant, can be caught in lots of places without the need of a boat, offer a real angling challenge, put up an excellent fight, and make fine table fare, yet don’t get the credit they deserve. Dec 3rd, 2013

Shallow Water Vibration

A lipless crankbait is one of the most effective baits to catch fish in shallow water, and it’s definitively one of those I use often.
