Fishing the Controlled Depths While Drifting or at Anchor

One of the most effective baits of all is fresh dead or frozen bait presented properly at the correct depth. Fresh dead bait is really effective, however tens of thousands of tuna, dolphin, wahoo and kings have been caught on frozen minnows free lined out the back of the boat while bottom fishing.

Kayak Fishing Adventure in the Natural Wonderland of Biloxi Marsh

The throaty sound of Captain Gary Taylors 31-foot Lafitte skiff roaring to life signals the start of our kayak fishing adventure. With six kayaks loaded on the roof of Gary’s boat, we ease out of the Rigolets near Slidell, Louisiana as the light is just beginning to crack the horizon out to the east. We are headed for a day of kayak fishing in the remote Louisiana Biloxi Marsh.

Fishing Frog Hollow: North Georgia’s Special Place

Where do you want to go fishing? When you think of the options, most folks think of a local stream or lake, but, get this: there is a world-class fly fishing destination just outside of Atlanta. It’s a day trip with trophy trout.

Tarpon Migration During the Warm Waters of Summer

Now it’ summer and for the next month or so warming water temperatures will dictate changes in our fishing techniques. These changes will vary based upon our location relative to the Mason/Dixon line, but we will be making some tactical changes to accommodate the warmer water.

Polarized Eyewear is the Key to Seeing and Catching More Fish

When sight casting to fish on the flats or in shallow water, a high-quality pair of polarized sunglasses can be the difference is seeing and catching fish.

The Skinny on Sunglasses

There is no question that sunglasses and caps are "musts" for outdoor activities. They are often thought of for saltwater fishing when scouring flats for "ghosts"— bonefish or when offshore fishing for billfish. But they are equally important when bass-boating around for largemouth, wet-wading rivers for smallmouth or carefully tiptoeing through trout streams.

New Horizons

As kayak anglers, we are somewhat limited to the amount of water we can cover in a single trip. This in no way restricts the countless miles of waters teeming with fish that we have access to within an hour drive of our homes. No matter how great your home waters produce fish, you are cheating yourself of even greater fishing opportunities if you don’t venture out from your honey holes and take advantage of the almost endless other fisheries your area of the country has to offer.

Sting ’em With a Clean (Snelled) Double Tackle

One of the worst feelings you can have is reeling in a bait that has been "short struck" or cut off just behind the hook. I can't tell you how many times the stinger hook has saved the day when it comes to trolling, bottom fishing and light lining. It is as easy as being able to snell fluorocarbon and even seven strand cable in some cases for critters with teeth.
