Fly of the Month: April 2016

April is one of the best times to be on the river. We see our highest numbers of steelhead during this time. Early spawners begin dropping back to the lake, and with each heavy rain and full moon, fresh fish will continue to migrate upstream. Trout fishing can be incredible too. Nymphing, streamers, and dry flies are all legitimate options. Total chaos! This fly works best on bright sunny days when the water is fairly stained. Dirty water is very common during April, and this fly emits huge amounts of light when the sun is high in the sky. All the flash built in makes it easier for the fish to see it. Works for both steel and trout.
