We are having a great second season. The amberjack and king mackerel are really starting to show up in the shallower water (100ft -80ft). We have caught a lot of really big amberjack in the 90 lb. class. We have been using live croakers big ones if you can find them. The bait shops have been pretty regular with lots of baits. We have been dropping them down with 8-12 oz leads and it seems the bigger fish are holding higher this month than in the past. The kings have been around the 30 lb. range at times. We have been free lining them on spinning gear way back off the stern of the boat.

The weather is still causing a lot of havoc, but hey we are still fishing when we can.

We are being threatened with a second snapper season so cross your fingers. I will pass along all the info that I can when it becomes available.

We also had a great time fishing the 18th Annual Carl Legett Fishing Tournament Steve, Randall, and Baron did a great job. We didn’t finish in the money this year but we made a great showing.

The little man on the crew was Grayson McKay (my god child) this was his first time to fish offshore he didn’t catch an amberjack but he caught and released his first snapper and it was a good one in the 20 lb. class so now all I hear is when are we going again uncle Bob. That’s what it is all about. Getting the Xboxes out of their hand and putting a fishing pole in them.

So until next time keep your lines wet and your eyes on the horizon.
