In this issue, our master of the Fish-geist, Zach Harvey, shares a personal story on his experience with Wounded Warriors and the healing powers of the ocean and fishing. It’s a personal story you shouldn’t miss. Rick Belevance of the RICPBA weighed in, it’s special. This is a group that we (the Publishers) support and look forward to doing more with over time.

Zach also brings us another barn- burner on the continuing saga of regulation of the striped bass. News update there, and many of our readers will be as unhappy as we are at the way things are going.

On a brighter note, carrying forward the trend from February we wanted to share a recent fishing trip to Jensen Beach, FL. A flash sale at Jet Blue (seriously, $32 per person each way from LGA to PBI) sent us in search of the sailfish which are plentiful off the East coast of Florida this time of year. While the polar vortex keeps us indoors in the frozen north, the combination of a front passing through followed by cooler northern winds brought the sailfish out in force. We joined one of my best high school buddies, Josh Shipley (now Dr.) to stalk and boat 3 of the beauties, along with a beautiful mahi. While we released the sailfish, the mahi was not so lucky and made a fine dinner! Check out our story on page 10!

March is a month of getting ready for season 2015 – so check out stories on getting your gear ready (by LI writer Tom Schlichter), getting your boat ready (by our friends at RI Brewer Yacht Yards) and while the cod is plentiful, our story using our favorite cHarrissa as a rub – yum!

March is also the month we introduce our special advertising incentives for season 2015. Last year Zach Harvey’s weekly fishing reports were a smash success, generating thousands of visits to our website coastalanglermag.com/rhodeisland and lots of opportunity for generating leads and business for our advertisers who would like to use this digital platform in addition to their print schedule.

Six time (April – September) advertisers will receive free banner advertising for the whole season on our website, on Zach’s weekly fishing reports page which starts in the spring. This is the page folks download and take with them, the page avid anglers can’t do without. These banners are usually $100 a pop so it is a great deal! Call us with any questions or for a proposal today! This offer is limited to the first 10 advertisers who sign up so don’t miss it!
