Tavern Recipe at Granite Links

MARINA BAY: O’CONNELL’S ANSWER TO LAGUNA BEACH

By David Todisco, Executive Chef

Sweeping views of Boston’s skyline take second seat to the food at The Tavern at Quarry Hills located at the Granite Links Golf Course in Quincy. The Tavern has
a contemporary elegance with cherry- wood furnishings, chandelier lighting and paneled walls. The restaurant commands panoramic views of the golf course and the Boston skyline.

Serving lunch and dinner year round, the Tavern’s success is a testament to the outstanding menu offerings, reasonably priced and enthusiastically prepared by Executive Chef, David Todisco, and his talented team in Granite Links’ bustling kitchen.

What is it that makes the food so special at this popular restaurant?

A spin off of Classic American favorites, Executive Chef David Todisco said.

In 2006, Todisco became The Tavern’s first executive chef. Born in Stoneham, MA, Todisco is a self-taught chef. His culinary career included Leisure Casino Cruises, restaurant chains, North End eateries and Lombardo’s in Randolph. His first job was as a line cook at Brighams in Stoneham when he was 14, and he knew at that time he was going to become a cook.

Todisco has a passion for giving familiar foods a special twist. His culinary approach is simple: keep the comfort appeal of old favorites but take the taste to a higher level. The shrimp cocktail is a winner. It put the Tavern on the map with 12 shrimp for
$11. The buffalo chicken wellingtons are
a different appetizer, a twist on the classic buffalo chicken spring roll. Great pastas, fresh seafood, great steaks.

Todisco has carefully crafted menus that will delight and inspire guests. The Tavern’s menu reflects his ever-changing creativity as a chef. To feature the season’s freshest produce, about 60 percent of the menu changes monthly. Seasonally, they change their menu four times a year so in the fall you get some nice butternut pickings, in the summertime light fresh frescos, fresh herbs, grilled pizzas. A little bit of every- thing.

Todisco is a stickler for consistency and demands that each dish be prepared to exacting standards.

There is so much to do for the whole family at Granite Links Golf Club. It is a total venue package where you can choose from 27 challenging holes of links style golf offering the most scenic vistas anywhere, including breathtaking views of Boston’s skyline, to drinks and entertainment at Crossing Nines, to enjoying the popular Tavern Restaurant for a shrimp cocktail or seafood mac & cheese, or have a banquet upstairs for 600 people.
