Gulf States Announce Red Snapper Seasons

With federal approval of Exempted Fishing Permits (EFPs) for red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico, the five Gulf states will manage red snapper seasons in state and federal waters for the 2018-2019 seasons. The bag-limit in federal waters remains 2 fish per person per day, with a 16-inch minimum length. Every state except Texas has the same limit for its state waters.

South Atlantic Red Snapper Season Proposed

NOAA Fisheries is considering new regulations that would open the door for a limited season for red snapper in the South Atlantic in 2018.

Bay scallop season opens June 16 in Dixie County and a portion of Taylor County

The 2018 recreational bay scallop season for Dixie County and a portion of Taylor County opens June 16 and will remain open through Sept. 10. This includes all state waters from the Suwannee River to the Fenholloway River.

Where To Go For Warm Weather Trout

I personally did not get in enough springtime trout fishing (aka dry fly fishing) this year due to this ill-advised move, so I’m still hankering for more. If you see me over the next few weeks, I’ll likely to be throwing poppers to shoal bass.
