Sixteen teams fished the Backcountry Fishing Association’s July tournament of the 2016 season. Anglers weighed plenty of redfish and trout at Little Jim’s in Fort Pierce.
Zack Brady, of Port St. Lucie, and Joey Gibson, of Stuart, won the event and $280 with their 5.46-pound redfish and 5.05-pound trout for a combined weight of 10.51 pounds. Josh Partin and Donnie Gribble, both from Vero Beach, placed second and earned $168 for their 6.83-pound redfish (caught by Partin and the biggest red weighed in this year’s series) and 1.54-pound trout. Lewis Arnold and Jake Haselgrove, both from Vero Beach, took third and a cash prize of $112 for their 4.16-pound redfish and 3.94-pound trout.
The next tournament takes place on August 6, 2016, out of Little Jim Bridge Bait and tackle in Fort Pierce.
