Seventeen teams fished Backcountry Fishing Association’s (BFA) September tournament of the 2016 season, which was held out of Little Jim Bridge Bait and Tackle in Fort Pierce. Once again, anglers weighed plenty of redfish, trout, and this month snook.
Tim Wake and Jeff Jenkins won the event and $297.50 with their 7.7-pound snook and 3.43-pound trout for a combined weight of 11.13-pounds. Josh Partin and Donnie Gribble, both from Vero Beach, placed second and earned $178.50 for their 8.91-pound snook. Darren Frost and Derek Engle, of Spring Hill, FL, took third place, earning $119.00 for their 5.45-pound topslot redfish and 1.41-pound trout for a combined weight of 6.86-pounds.
The last tournament of the season, the “Classic”, takes place on Saturday, October 1, in Fort Pierce out of Little Jim Bridge Bait and Tackle. The top ten teams of the season will complete for cash and prizes.
