Monahan’s Marine

By Monahan’s Marine Staff

Well it’s that time of year when we are busier winterizing and wrapping boats than we are catching fish. That splash of warm weather in October delayed more than a few from pulling the boat out too early and for good cause. A few waves of more than decent sized fish were passing through with the cold breezes. Mike and Cassie were among the few hardcore anglers able to land big fish here in the harbor.

Although the big fish might be all but gone nothing says fall fishing like smelt. That cucumber smell is in the air. Indications are the smelt bite is looking like it will back with force this year. Some say it’s like shooting fish in a barrel when they are in and others will tell you they had to be coaxed into biting. Lights.. sabiki …action!
If you aren’t into the night bite a better option is to head for the lakes and streams. As fall takes hold our landlocked friends will be on the feed before setting up for the long winter. Whether you’re an avid angler looking for your personal best largemouth, brown or northern we have the knowhow to help you make this fall your best yet. Although we are known for having one of the best saltwater inventories on the harbor we also carry what you need for your freshwater season so stop by with your rod in hand and we will point you in the right direction.
