Stuart Sailfish Club has released the final numbers for the latest Lady Angler Tournament and the results show the event exceeded previous year’s fundraising. The Saltwater Sisters Lady Angler Tournament was held the weekend of September 23 and 24 at Pirate’s Cove Resort and Marina, in Port Salerno. Events leading up to the tournament itself included a number of pre-parties and a Captain’s Fashion Show.
Event Chairwoman Margaret Dyer has watched the event grow over the past three years. “This was the 31st annual tournament, but over the last three years, we’ve watched fundraising increase each year. Our silent auction is huge with dozens of baskets, artwork, and fishing related items. And this year, we raffled off a boat, trailer and motor package that was very popular. We also saw more sponsors step up to the plate to help our chosen charities. We raised a total of $45,000 from all our events and fundraisers. We are so thankful to our sponsors, our tireless volunteers and to all the captains and anglers that came out to participate.”
Charities that will benefit from the event include Friends in Pink, a local organization that provides financial assistance for those on the Treasure Coast battling breast cancer; Windsor Community Angels, an organization that pays for free mammograms for Treasure Coast residents; and the Sailfish Club’s Scholarship program.
