St. Pete Report BY: Capt. Anthony Corcella

New Opportunities

We just wanted to start off with a thank you to our readers for all the support and for taking time to read our reports each month. We wanted to share the good news that Pocket Change and Finns Charter Service will be offering offshore trips in a whole new style. Take a ride on the 39-foot Sea Vee Z with quad Mercury 350 horsepower outboards. This offshore machine will get you out to the fishing grounds fast with cruising speeds of 40-mph. We will be offering 4,6,8,10,12 and 24-hour trips to get on those monster fish like grouper, snapper, sharks, kingfish and pretty much any offshore fish out there. For our longer trips we will be doing deep drop fishing with electric reels.  Drinks and food are included.

Let’s get to the fishing report. Lots of sheepshead are currently being caught around the docks and rock piles by the Skyway. Also, the redfish are biting well. We have been throwing shrimp at both species. Using a 1/0 J-hook with 1/8-ounce weight seems to work great for both reds and sheepshead. Once again, the dead bait works well under those deep docks for the big snook this time of year. The lure of choice is the Hookup bait for trout. They hit it on the fall, so you better hang on because it’s an aggressive bite.

Try out these tips–they should work for you. If you have any questions, please reach out to us–we love to talk fishing. Remember to check us out on Waypoint TV.
