[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Martin County inshore report for March is riding on the water quality and the amount of run off from the locks and spillways. The area around the St. Lucie Inlet on the higher tides you can find an assortment of bottom fish like drum, sheepshead and snapper. Since the water clarity will be disturbed by floating sediment, you should use bait with lots of scent, like fresh dead shrimp or clams. Look for the tide line, meaning ocean water versus river water, and stay on the cleaner side of the tide. Try north of the Stuart causeway for pompano near the submerged dredged sandbars on the east side of the channel. Best bet for snook would be the bridges at night throwing orange and yellow jigs. Work the jig back with a slow retrieve feeling the bottom as you reel in. Local ponds are producing some big bass. The bass seem to be tight to the vegetation and flipping for them wacky worm style should get results.
