Eight boats from New Providence fished the second leg of Lightbourne Marine’s 7th Annual Wahoo Challenge. Held on January 18, tournament contenders dealt with approaching cold fronts and a forecast for increasing wind—both perfect elements for a good wahoo bite.

Weigh-in took place at Green Parrot Harbour Front, along the new pedestrian friendly wharf along Bay Street Marina. According to tournament director Rachel Lightbourne, the anglers did not disappoint those spectators who gathered to see what the fishing teams pulled in.

White Rat, a 60’ Viking, weighed a total of 136 pounds which included the heaviest wahoo landed by female angler, Candy Kelly, weighing 38.5 pounds. Team Midnight, on a 39’ Midnight Express weighed a total of 112 pounds, followed by Rake N’ Scrape on a Bahama 41’, brought in 78.80 pounds and Rook, a 43’ Rybovich, with 39.10 pounds.
