Dauphin Island Fishing Report

September is a transition month for the fish in the Dauphin Island bay, and they’ll be in their usual places for the most part, but in less numbers from where you have been catching them. They will start to be in the middle of the bay from the south end and from northern end from the middle areas, try to fish areas you wouldn’t fish this early. What I mean is, the October-type of fishing areas from the causeway and places just south of there: if the water is muddy on top, the fish will be on the bottom. Places like Dog River are catching a lot of flounder, reds and speckled trout. Also, Fish River has been good when the fish aren’t biting on the northern end. Try going a little south and keep trying short distances as these fish are going to head north and the fish that are there will be joined by a lot more fish soon! Book your Fall trips now as the temperatures cool off and great fishing will start.
