Blacks Camp Fishing Report Oct 16, 2013

This is my favorite time of the year to fish! Best thing about it, the cooler the water gets, the better the fishing gets! The stripers are hitting live herring on the lower lake, as well as schooling on top. In the fall, you want to drift with the live herring and throw artificial baits such as buck tails, top water baits and swim baits when the rockfish are schooling.

‘ll give you a little tip: the bigger stripers are usually deep while the schoolies are the smaller fish on top. Look for seagulls and whitewater and you’ll find the schools of stripers. Crappie and bream are doing well on brush in both lakes, sink some Myrtle bushes for great panfishing that you can enjoy year around. Catfish are also being caught drifting. My group caught 19 the other day with a 35 pound blue being the biggest. Remember to release the trophies, keep the smaller cats to eat. CPR – catch, photo and release. This fall is shaping up to be some great fishing!
