To avoid nervousness about diving, dive early and dive often and don’t forget to hug a shark (if you are nervous about that we can fix that with a shark interaction – shark behavior class). PHOTO CREDIT: Florian Niethammer.

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]arch is spring break time in South Eleuthera and another great month for diving. While the water temperature is 74-75 degrees, (don’t forget your hood to complement your long sleeve shorty or full wet suit, 3 mm is fine) be sure to book where ever you are going early, as the island gets very busy from mid-March to mid-April and we don’t want to see you come all this way and get turned away. With less cold fronts making the way to the Bahamas, winds are typically mild and out of the northeast, allowing for protected diving on the south end of Eleuthera on the Exuma Sound; a body of water on the Bahamas platform with water depths of 4,000 to 5,000 feet just off the wall, where there is incredible coral and visibility. Plenty of fish abound on the wall with sightings of loggerhead turtles and spotted eagle rays as well.

Safety Tip for March: If bringing your own dive equipment, have it serviced and then check it out yourself before you leave, you would be surprised how many times the tech did not quite get it right.

Fun Tip for March: Don’t forget an underwater camera, the photography opportunities are limitless.
